Thomas Real DuBord

January 12, 1948 - January 20, 2023

thomas dubord picThomas Real DuBord, 75, of St. Charles passed away Friday, January 20, 2023, at Delnor Community Hospital in Geneva, IL.  He was born January 12, 1948, in Fargo, North Dakota, the son of Real Fernin and Elaine Margaret (Mitchell) DuBord.  He was united in marriage to Bonnie Retterer on October 19, 1974, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Batavia, IL.

Tom honorably served in the United States Navy from 1968 until 1971.  Following his discharge from the Navy Tom moved back to his hometown of West Chicago and began working at AT&T.  He later worked for Alden and Lyle in St. Charles for eleven years, then Pace in Northbrook for a time.  Tom was a hard-working guy with many talents, so he took on working with his father-in-law for several years, Retterer Painting and Decorating.  Tom was a member of the Batavia American Legion where he served as Past Commander and a member of the Batavia VFW Axillary.  He was an active and fun guy who enjoyed staying active, he loved to bowl, and if Karaoke was playing it was likely Tom would be singing.     

He is survived by his wife, Bonnie DuBord; a son Trevor DuBord; his father-in-law Roger Retterer; and his siblings, Vaughn DuBord, Sandra Elliott, Denise (Ben) Sweeney, Michelle (Larry) Mehne, and Kevin (Tina) DuBord; and his in-laws, Roger Bruce (Diane) Retterer, Suellen (Kent) Tietge, Terry Evanovich, Wendy (Robert) Smith, Lance (Pam) Retterer; and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Beverly Retterer; his brother-in-law, Thomas Evanovich, his godson and nephew, Michael Evanovich; and a nephew Charles Barker. 

Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Thursday, January 26, 2023, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL. 

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, January 27, 2023, at Moss Family Funeral Home, 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.  Interment and military honors will be held at River Hills Memorial Park following the services at the funeral home.
