Julie A. Sojka

March 24, 1953 - November 18, 2022

sojkapicJulie Ann Sojka, 69, of Batavia, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, November 18, 2022, at her home.  Julie was born on March 24, 1953, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the daughter of Melvin and Marjorie (Conway) Ketelaar.

Julie is survived by her husband, Rick Sojka Sr of 46 years; daughter, Nicole (Ryan) Bolin; son Rick (Michele) Sojka Jr.; grandchildren, Reegan Bolin, Anna Sojka and Connor Sojka; two siblings, Larry Ketelaar and Karen (Ketelaar) Adams; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Julie graduated from Willowbrook High School in 1971.  In 1974, Julie met Rick, the love of her life and they wed April 3, 1976.  They had the kind of love you don’t see very often.  Julie dedicated her life to raising her children.  When her children were grown, she went back to work in Real Estate.  Her recent years she loved spending time with her grandchildren, watching her husband, son and son-in-law drag race, spending time with her many friends, watching local bands in the summer with husband, crafting, floral design, playing games and volunteering at her favorite waterhole, Aurora’s Turners Club.

Julie had a larger than life personality and always welcoming to everyone.  No matter who you were, she always greeted you with a big smile and hello.   She was a gracious person with a heart of gold. She cared not because she needed to but because she wanted to. Words cannot express how much she will be missed.

In addition to her parents, Julie is preceded in death by her brothers Craig Ketelaar and Tommy Ketelaar.

A funeral mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, November 26, 2022, at Annunciation Catholic Church 820 Church Road Aurora, IL. Prayers and a final goodbye will be said at 9:30 A.M. prior to processing to church.
