October 27, 1926 - September 15, 2021

Julia M. Loftus, 94, of Geneva, IL passed away on September 15, 2021, at Delnor Hospital after a brief illness.

Frances Julia Marloth was born the second of four children in Dixon, IL on October 27, 1926 to Werner and Mary Louise Marloth.  In 1947, she married John Loftus, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage until his passing in January, 2014.  For more than a half-century, they were active and supporting members of St. Patrick Church and School in St. Charles, IL. They were the parents of six children -- William (Elizabeth), St. Charles, IL; Mary Parker, Wild Rose, WI; Martin (Eve), Naples, FL; Louise (Michael) Lachapelle, San Juan Capistrano, CA; James (Irene), Davenport, IA; and Kathryn Reynolds, St. Charles, IL.

Julie was an extraordinary wife, homemaker, and mother. She was radiant in aura and dress.  An excellent bridge player, keen shopper, and voracious reader, she outpaced many with her knowledge of current affairs and elegant style.  She was witty and fun, demonstrating incredible patience with a house full of kids and grandkids.  She kept everyone in line and well fed.  Julie had a remarkable presence about her, confident and intelligent, engaging and serene.  She was generous with her time.  She was a wonderful teacher and was simply a delightful woman.

Survivors include her children and their spouses, 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and a brother Rudolf (Daisy) Marloth, Los Angeles, CA.  Preceding her in death were her parents, two sisters, Joan Popma and Jean Hall, grandchild John Timothy Loftus, and husband John.

Visitation will be Monday, September 20, 2021 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Moss-Norris Funeral Home, 100 S. Third St., St. Charles, IL.  Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, September 21, 2021 10:30am, St. Patrick Catholic Church, 400 Cedar St., St. Charles, IL. Interment will follow at Prairie Cemetery.
